Peace Garden - HBC

Project: The Hastings Fountain Group developed the idea of building a peace garden in Alexandra Park. It was to be a garden of scented plants, running water and meditative walkways. We won a competitive tender to carry out landscaping and fencing based on their design.

Key features: It was a high spec job. The project was funded by a range of charitable organisations and required regular evaluations and the ability to modify the original concepts as the work progressed.
 

Our work: We carried out all the hard and soft landscaping works and the metal fencing. With the work located in a public space, we met the ongoing challenges of protecting and keeping the surroundings functional for public use. It allowed interest to gather pace as the project reached fruition with the placing of a large stone centrepiece.

The result: FGS and the client delivered an exciting finished product. The work emphasised our ability to manage and respond to the changes required by a multi-faceted organisation and produce an outstanding outcome on time. It received an excellent response from the public with a good turn out at the opening event. It raised our profile in the area and led to new work.
