The Ardmore Group - Chatham Docks

Landscape design and construction, Chatham Docks
Project: Design and construct a high-profile landscaping scheme adjacent to a major shopping centre and visitor attraction (Dickens World) in the heart of Chatham docks for The Ardmore Group.
Key features: This was a high impact site in the redevelopment area of Chatham Dockyards. Planning requirements were stringent and the maritime exposure meant it was difficult to use tailored stock.
Our work: We negotiated solutions with planners from Medway city council, the client (Brown Estates) and the developer (Ardmore Construction). Other parties interested in the overall appearance included five separate organisations in addition to individual members of the public.
The result: Our ability to integrate design with practical construction issues resulted in a highly visually-appealing landscape with a variety of colours, texture and form. The design met the brief and its delivery and establishment were successful in providing an attractive early landscaping structure to complement the building. It is a valuable addition to the Chatham Dockland streetscape.
